Ants from Up There by Black Country, New Road is my favorite record from 2022 and I’ve spent with it a lot of time (maybe more than I should’ve had). For past two months I’ve been searching for similar type of emotions in music but couldn’t find anything close to it, until now. Indiana band Maccogallo combines similar music elements like BCNR and I especially enjoy their similar ‘natural approach’ to the production – when listening to their music, you feel as if you were in the same room together with them which makes the listening experience very special. The vocal is emotional, the melodies are compelling, yet intimate… very interesting and talented band.
