Danny Lee Allen is an indie rock veteran. Among his favorite artists you will find names like Bob Pollard and Alex G. And it’s Pollard’s legendary band Guided by Voices that came into my mind when I first heard This Divine Love. (Which might be a little bit strange because a regular gbv song is usually around 120 seconds long and this track has almost 6 minutes!) But it simply shares similar portion of creativity and weirdness that I love. It’s catchy, but raw.
Allen is based in Miami, but originally comes from Sydney, Australia. I’ve never been to Australia but somehow I feel a strong connection to music by artists from this continent. And this song proves it again.
