Songs we love: Worthitpurchase – Calendar Talk

Worthitpurchase caught my attention at first sight with their weird, yet attractive and cool name. This west coast’s band consists of Nicole Rowe, Omar Akouche and Eric Van Thyne and their music is inspired by Phil Elverum’s The Microphones and David Berman (Silver Jews, Purple Mountains). But I have to say that their songs have much more positive and pleasantly nostalgic vibe to me, they don’t sound dark nor depressive. It’s always nice when you’re inspired by someone and you don’t sound exactly like them. And if I should name one band that have similar vibe to Worthitpurchase, it’d be probably Hovvdy (and that’s a good thing as well!:).

I also need to mention the beautiful video that reminded me of Richard Linklater’s old movies like Slacker and Suburbia. Great work!
