Colyer, the eponymous project of musician Steven Colyer, has established a uniquely versatile sound. As he says, he draws inspiration mainly from 90s shoegaze and 60s soul – but also everything in-between. Many of his singles has reached a huge success on streaming platforms – past tracks like Lost in Your Love and Out For You generated more than 7 million streams on Spotify. And I’m not that surprised, it’s definitely well-deserved success, Colyer’s sound is sophisticated, yet captivating. His crispy voice sounds vulnerable and sort of sexy – and just everything about this track has a great quality, whether it’s the warm production or the rich instrumentation. But what I like about Weird World the most is that powerful (sort of) western/desert vibe.
