Lindsay Clark is a Portland, OR singer-songwriter (originally from a Californian Gold Rush town of Nevada City). She’s influenced by various artists like Beach Boys, Joni Mitchell and even by Appalachian folk music. But if I should pick one name that reminds me of her music, it would be an acclaimed American singer-songwriter Alela Diane (now this is interesting, I’ve just found out they come from the same town… :).
The atmosphere on Evening Star is very captivating, mostly thanks to the delicate and detailed production. The whole track has pretty melancholic vibe, but I love how sometimes almost joyful electric guitars emerge to the surface and completely change the mood of the track. Clark’s guitar style is very subtle and pleasant and it gives me sort of Haley Heynderickx vibe as well.
To sum it up, this track needs your concentration but if you’re able to listen closely, it’ll repay you with beautiful, somehow unearthly experience.
