Stars**** by Buddy Junior was released in 2021 (exactly a year ago) but this is such a good track that it would be a shame not to include it here (even though it’s a bit old – not for me, but time flies fast in the music business lol). Short bio: Buddy Junior is a duo that comes from California and plays “moody-rock”, it consists of Jared and Harvey LeNar (and they perform live as a three piece band with Monika Jang on drums.)

After only a few seconds, I knew that this will be an exceptional song. Warm and natural production, nothing too shiny, just raw emotions, supercatchy melodies, amazing combination of lead and back vocals… I loved that melancholic (and sort of angry) vibe. It reminded me of early Alex G a bit (mixed with some midwest emo band). It’s interesting how the vocal melody in this track doesn’t evolve, the chorus and the verse is practically the same thing, but it works so well… and yes, the guitar outro is brilliant as well.
