It doesn’t happen very often that I encounter a track that is 15 minutes long (this one is 15:47 actually). I love some long tracks (Baseball Shoes by Black Country, New Road is my soty for instance) but it’s hard to find a long track that I would enjoy from the beginning to the end. But No Weeping Melts the Armor by Quiet Sonia is truly an exceptional track that hides inside so many brilliant parts. You must have a great portion of talent to come up with such long track and I’m actually curious how long it can take to create a song that is so long and so good.
When it comes to the music style of Quiet Sonia, their songs remind me of my favorite bands The Decemberists and Belle and Sebastian. Indie music that is both smart and ambitious.
My favorite part: It’s hard to say, the melodies on this track are simply beautiful. The instrumentation is breathtaking as well… if I really had to choose, it would be that 2:12-4:00 part and then 9:30-10:30.
Quiet Sonia is a Copenhagen-based seven-piece post-rock/folk/indie-rock group performing and interpreting the folk-influenced compositions of songwriter and guitarist Nikolaj Bruus on acoustic steel string guitar and vocal.
