Songs we love: Small Town Sci-Fi – Methadone

Small Town Sci-Fi is an experimental, indie-rock lo-fi artist from Salinas, California, currently residing in Berkeley. “In 2018 after the death of a close family member left him lost, he found comfort in the music of a singer-songwriter from Memphis and for the first time…. found the meaning he had been looking for. He bought a guitar at a second hand shop and has been playing ever since.”

What I like the most about Small Town Sci-Fi’s new song Methadone is the roughness, those raw emotions really hit you, it has this strange melancholic vibe that’s very attractive. At the same the song doesn’t lose its catchiness.

My favorite part: the chorus is just amazing, but I also like the production, I especially enjoy the natural sound of the drums, it has sort of Elliott Smith vibe.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
