Songs we love: Joyfulpix – Кажется я теряю себя

It’s hard for me to write about Russian artists without mentioning the current situation in Ukraine. It’s really awful and I can’t believe this still can occur in 21th century’s Europe. Don’t know how hard it must be for both Ukrainian people, but also for Russian people who are against the war but can’t really speak up… So it’s pretty interesting for me to listen to an artist from Russia. Joyfulpix is an indie rock project that is pretty close to slowcore/sadcore. “Mixed feelings and personal tragedy. Sophisticated sound that combines gloomy melodies, lo-fi and experimental pleasures.”

I really love that gloomy, melancholic atmosphere. I don’t think many artists from US and UK could achieve such sound, it has very unique, eastern type of sadness… Russian language is also so beautiful and it nicely fits the vibe of this track (and that sort of creepy video is cool as well:)

The band was founded only a month ago by musicians Follin & Sunostalgy, originally from Volgograd and St. Petersburg. “The decision to form Joyfulpix was not an easy one due to the difficult situation the future members were in. Their last project no longer showed any prospects, it was already uncomfortable for them to be implemented within it due to the accumulated experience, change in tastes and image.”
