Songs we love: Great Klons – Drifting on the Wheel

By day, Scott Klon is a generic family man with three kids and a laptop job. At night, he creates trippy lo-fi indie tunes as part of Great Klons, working together with collaborators Courtney Hastings (violin) and Justin Levy (producer/bassist).

Klon has been making music for more than a decade, first as bassist with the 00/10s indie-psych band Eureka Birds, and then through his solo recordings. His new solo song is called Drifting on the Wheel and it’s a short, sort of inconspicuous yet pretty strong track.

The atmosphere of the song reminds me of the time when I traveled through Nevada at night. At one point, shortly after midnight, I stopped in the middle of the desert, turned off the engine and lights, and just listened to the beautiful (and chilling) sounds of the night wilderness.
