I first heard about the band Yin Waster in the early days of my blog when I was interviewing amazing Friendly Faces, another band from Chicago (they share the same member, Griffin Mang).
I like a lot when musicians have several different projects, it usually means that they enjoy music in general, that they like to cooperate with friends and their music often exudes a kind of unbridled joy and naturalness.
This is the same case with Yin Waster’s song Impressions of Cabinets and Kitchenettes, which has this hypnotic, repetitive mood that immediately draws you in and does not let go until the end of the track. Very pleasant experience… Yin Waster call their own style “gas station folk” and I like that term a lot, wish more bands played this kind of folk nowadays:)
