Songs we love: JJonas – old painting

JJonas is the solo project of the danish songwriter/composer Jonas Viby Sommer and old painting is a song off his debut album Corrections. “The music positions itself in a genre you may call – ugly indie or ecological pop – as it tries to implement every sound as well as the noise from the recordings that you would normally try to exclude from your production,” writes the musician about the record.

I immediately fell in love with the natural lo-fi production, which feels as if you were present in a room with the musician himself. It also offers very nostalgic, sort of melancholic atmosphere, which reminds me of one of my favorite films, Away We Go by Sam Mendes from 2009. I remember that similar songs played there in the soundtrack and this one would fit there perfectly as well.
