My guitar is trying to kill me is a music project from Brooklyn and Chicago. “Shoegaze, lo-fi, bedroom kinda stuff.” After some time, the name of an artist caught my attention so much that I knew that their music could be pretty good even before really listening to any of their songs. And sure I was right.
I really enjoy that the main vocal does not particularly stand out from the song, but on the contrary, it works for the song and fits perfectly into the instrumental part. I have a soft spot for these deeper vocals that in some parts rather speak than sing.
Most of the songs trigger some kind of memory when I listen to them. This one made me remember one nightly arrival at an abandoned motel in Tucson, AZ, and the subsequent search for a bar in the darkened streets of the city.
