Songs we love: bedbugz – bedbugz

Hailing from Canterbury, Kent, Robyn and Isaac aka bedbugz formed themselves as a project out of sporadic necessity. So far they’ve released 3 songs – file_corrupted, golf jumper and bedbugz.

Sometimes all you need is the first tone of the song (in this case the blissful sound of the guitar!) and you know this is the music you’re going to enjoy… and yes, it was like that for me with bedbugz. (Maybe the fact that their name is similar to one my favorite bedroom pop artist – Bedbug – helped a bit as well haha!).

Genre-wise, British bedbugz are a little closer to indie rock with elements of dream pop and shoegaze. The main component of the song is a vocal, though – captivating, melancholic and pretty melodic at the same time. I also like when bands are not afraid to try strange experiments in their music, here, for example, at 1:38, comes a completely different vocal that feels like it doesn’t even belong there, I mean, a normal band wouldn’t mix their song like that… bedbugz? Well, why not! And it’s great. I wouldn’t mind if they make the song even stranger to be honest:)
