Songs we love: Mount Mural – Moment

Forming from the indie-circa-1990, bedroom demos of guitarist Clayton McMillan, the 4-piece shoegaze act from Barrie, ON came together to form Mount Mural in early 2018. Residing somewhere between the haziness of early DIIV and the hypnotic guitar lines of midwest emo, the band has created a sound in a long line of the crescendo-building Canadian post-rock bands.

On our blog, we have previously praised their fantastic single Sickboy that had nice Slowdive kind of vibe. And just as great is the new song Moment. In general, Mount Mural’s songs have a very unique atmosphere, ’caused’ by a precise instrumentation together with excellent production that is really focused on details.

Their new single sounds sort of clean, but at the same time it has a “soul”. This doesn’t always happen, many of the new, well-produced songs lose their charm when they are too polished, but fortunately that’s not the case with Moment…

My favorite part: The vocal! It takes you to other worlds. Beautiful color, amazing melodies…
