Songs we love: August Edition VII

Unfortunately, due to covid-19 complications, I have not been able to write many new articles in past weeks:( So these ones will be a bit shorter than usual… then I will take a break for about a month and I will come back at the end of September!:)

THE BAKER’S BASEMENT – KINGS HWY

We already included here one song by The Baker’s Basement. I like their goofy style in this track (that video haha! funny) and I also love how melodic their music is. It’s just so pleasant, it always makes me happy… That simple bedroom pop production is also entertaining.

SONIC LOLAND X SIMEN MITLID – EVERYTHING AT ONCE

Usually this is that type of indie folk, that I sort of ignore. It’s too nice, too pretty, too fragile, too gentle, too clean… So how come I like this so much? I really don’t know the answer to be honest, I just do. Maybe it reminds me of my favorite folk artists like Jose Gonzalez and Iron & Wine, maybe it reminds me of my favorite movies like Into the Wild. But I really feel at peace when listening to this, such a beautiful tune! I wish I felt most of the time in my life like when I’m listening to this track…

GIRL TIME – SLOWPASS

As a big fan of Emily Yacina, Slowpass by Girl Time really made me happy. I mean, it doesn’t sound that similar to Yacina’s music, but I feel pretty similar vibe in their music. It’s happy and sad. It’s emotive and chill. It’s simple yet complicated. I must praise everything (and it makes me sad that it took me so long to write about this particular track!) about this song: the instrumental part is highly addictive (I just love the guitar, really strong ideas), the production is fantastic as well… but what makes this song so brilliant are the vocals. Amazing melodies & harmonies… I want to cry.
