Songs we love: Sea Glass – A Walk Through the Woods

Sea Glass is the project of New York-based singer-songwriter Jake Muskat. His debut album should be released this year and if A Walk Through the Woods is one of the singles from the record, we definitely have something to look forward to.

Sea Glass is influenced by artists that combine indie pop with a bit of psychedelia: Panda Bear , Animal Collective… I mostly appreciate two things about indie music, one is more abstract – the overall atmosphere, that certain vibe that permeates the whole song. Sometimes the vibe is so pleasant that I can listen to the track on repeat only because of that, even when there are not that many great ideas (which is not this case). The second thing is the vocal melody: on A Walk Through the Woods the melody is relatively simple, but extremely entertaining and sort of unconventional. Muscat’s vocal comes out several times during the verses in this really short and energetic manner. And it’s super catchy. The choruses are more dreamy, wrapped in reverb, reminding me of swimming in the ocean.
