Woodside is a somewhat mysterious, introverted project of the singer-songwriter Lewis, who, according to his words, makes songs for nice folks ONLY. Fair enough.
2003 is an atmospheric song and I think that the simple cover perfectly captures the mood of the track. It is really suitable for evening/night listening. Lewis’ vocals are soft, blurred, with a lot of effects on it (that’s what I always like), sometimes reminiscent of the whispering style of Elliott Smith.
The second half of the track is brilliant, with more instruments coming in and the whole song escalates beautifully . Really well constructed song!
