Interview: Marni

Marni is a shoegaze band from Los Angeles.

You come Palm Springs, CA. Actually I spent there a few days in 2020. Didn’t seem like an area with a lot of DIY/indie bands, though…

Yeah, Palm Springs is interesting haha, there’s not much of a scene there. There are a few bands there in the scene but they mainly play in La.

You currently reside in LA. How do you like the local music scene in your city? Do you have any favorite local artists and venues?

I think the scene in Los Angeles is really cool. A lot more inclusive and close than I thought. Everyone knows everyone and it’s kind of sick haha. Some of my favorite local bands are Gal Pal, Fime, Cold Gawd, Cryogeyser, Kraus and so many more haha

I love the Fonda theater out here it’s amazing and this spot called Resident in arts district! We have played there a bunch it’s so cool

Where did you record your new single? I really love the sound, the song is very energetic, yet the production feels somehow warm to my ears.

I recorded it with my friend/producer/engineer friend Nicholas. We did it in my guitarist Mic’s house. She let us do it in her studio room. Aww thank you I appreciate that 😊

Will it be a part of your new album?

Yeah Manny’s Song is going to definitely be a part of the new album. We’re working on recording and writing new songs for the record as we speak actually.

What are your plans for the rest of 2023? Any live shows/festivals ahead?

As far as live shows we have a really cool one coming up June 10th here in La at Genghis Cohen with amazing bands Sour Widows and Soft Blue Shimmer. We are really excited about that one 😊
