MOTEL VOID: You’re from Gothenburg, Sweden. How would you describe the current music scene there? Do you feel that you’re part of it?

BOY WITH APPLE: The Gothenburg music scene has a history of producing a lot of solid indie music, which definitely has influenced us as a band. And still today a bunch of new indie bands start up and play the bars and music venues. We like hanging out with other musicians so I guess we’re part of that scene.

MOTEL VOID: Could you recommend some of your favorite local venues and artists?

BOY WITH APPLE: Some great local venues we like would be places like Oceanen and Skeppet. Great beer and great music!

There’s so many talented artists we could recommend but you should check out Agent Blå, The Embassy, Typical Girls and Beverly Kills. Our guitarist Nils also plays in the band Swedish Love Story.

MOTEL VOID: You’ve just released a new single ‘GBG Hills’. Will it be part of your new record?

BOY WITH APPLE: Yes! The single will be the leading track of our upcoming debut album Attachment which releases March 15th!

MOTEL VOID: Could you tell us more about the recording and writing process of this record?

BOY WITH APPLE: Most of the time we write our songs in the rehearsal studio together. Often starting off with an idea that one of us comes up with, then just jamming pretty freely together to see how it will evolve. Most of the time we try to see where the song wants to go on its own, trying to pull it out of the air instead of from our heads.
The recording of most of the songs was done by ourselves, in the rehearsal studio and at Tim and Zara’s apartments. The only exceptions were the songs Linger On, Strawberry Boy and Brighter Than the Sun, which were recorded with local indie legend Gustav “Guggi Data” Flinkstones.

MOTEL VOID: Your plans for 2024?

BOY WITH APPLE: Our plans for 2024 are heeaaps of live shows and travel (New York, Austin, Germany etc.), the release of our debut album, writing new songs and good times! We’re also going to document all our adventures on instagram so go follow us there!
