INTERVIEW: SONS OF ZÖKU

MOTEL VOID: You’re based in Adelaide, Australia. How would you describe the music scene there? Do you feel that you’re part of it?

SONS OF ZÖKU (RICARDO): Adelaide music scene is very vibrant and diverse and I do feel we play our part in our unique way.

MOTEL VOID: Could you name your favorite local venues and artists?

SONS OF ZÖKU (RICARDO): Some of my favourite venues are The Gov, Lion Arts Factory, The Crown and Anchor, Queens Theatre, Jive and Grace Emily.
For local artists I’m really into Thunder Speaks atm plus s t e p h i, St Morris Sinners, Hepe Matèh, Heinous Crimes, The Genevieves, Bjèar.

MOTEL VOID: You’ve just released a new album ËNDLËSS. Could you tell us more about the recording and writing process of this record?

SONS OF ZÖKU (RICARDO): This record came from a more inward perspective, looking within ourselves for answers or to at least make useful questions that could guide us towards something more meaningful.

For the recording part was a pretty simple process, laying down normally the rhythm section first followed by overdubbing the rest of the colours according to what we felt each song needed.

MOTEL VOID: Who is your biggest inspiration right now?

SONS OF ZÖKU (RICARDO): Fleet Foxes, Michael Giacchino and Mdou Moctar.

MOTEL VOID: Your plans for 2024?

SONS OF ZÖKU (RICARDO): Play shows, spend time with the family, read, write, live more for each moment.
