MOTEL VOID: Could you introduce your project in a few sentences? I haven’t found much information about you on the internet to be honest…

STINKUS: I’m Tyler, I started Stinkus with my best friends Turner and Winton after I went through a breakup of a 7 year relationship. I write and produce music for other artists as my job but never felt comfy enough to sing myself or be the face of a project. So you can find lots of my other credits online but yeah this project is brand new and starting from scratch which is exciting!

MOTEL VOID: You’ve just released two new singles ‘I Am’ and ‘Not Like Dying’. Will they be part of your new record?

STINKUS: Yes they will be! This next single, Rodeo Mary is the last single before the album comes out April 5th

MOTEL VOID: Is this your first music project ever?

MOTEL VOID: Could you tell us more about the writing and recording process of your songs?

STINKUS: Writing and recording for this project has been the most fun I’ve had creating something in years. It’s a very free process where I just kind of let things flow. I like to write by myself. I usually start with a guitar riff that I’ll record to listen back to, then I’ll sing something on top of it until I’m happy with it and then record it. Everything moves pretty quick after that!

MOTEL VOID: Your biggest inspirations right now?

STINKUS: Really into Alex G, MJ Lenderman, Hovvdy, and Adrianne Lenker/Big Thief.

MOTEL VOID: Your plans for 2024?

STINKUS: I have the album release April 5th, then I have an EP of covers that I’ll release shortly after, then I’m hoping to have the second album released in the fall/winter of 2024. Really want to start playing shows/touring.
