INTERVIEW: I’D’VE

MOTEL VOID: You’re based in Sacramento, California. How would you describe the current music scene there? Do you feel that you’re part of it?

I’D’VE: I was based in Sacramento for a couple of years. I just moved down to LA. The music scene in Sacramento is awesome. Great community if you put the work in you definitely get what you want out of it. Whether it’s music, or art, or venues, or DIY shows there is something for everybody. I also feel like Sacramento has been on the come up again. After Covid it felt like a renaissance was happening. Met some of the coolest and genuine artists. I want to give a shout out to Golden Bear because they do a great open Mic every Tuesday and you can really tap into different artists. Ya I feel like I was a part of it. If I wasn’t filling in for other bands, or creating projects, I started a small booking agency called 2×2 booking and tried to book shows for bands in a DIY setting. I worked a lot with a gentleman by the name of Erk Frankenstein , he goes by Dat Grain on instagram he would make a lot of my flyers.

MOTEL VOID: I haven’t found much information about you on the internet, could you introduce yourself in a few sentences? Is this your first project?

I’D’VE: This project I’D’VE was a project with some friends in the music community. We all came from different bands. We got Phillip Barkel – Guitar/vocals he plays for FITTING, HSALT, Joey Oliveira – Guitar/ Vocals he played for Winsome, Department of Interior, and FITTING, Claire Tauber – Bass, she had her own project, also played for Baseball Greg, for Beti masenqo, Slugfeast, and myself Aaron Inacio – Drums, played for Winsome, Dogpatch, Headaches, and now this sweet project titled I’D’VE.

MOTEL VOID: You’ve just released your new single ‘Upstream Downriver’…

I’D’VE: This song is part of an EP titled I’D’VE Been There, we released this EP recently with Research Chemicals which is a label based in Sacramento Ca. This EP is out on Bandcamp, as well as all streeming platforms. Mix, Mastered, artwork done by Phillip Barkel in the band.

MOTEL VOID: Could you tell us more about the recording and writing process of these songs?

I’D’VE: We all came together for these songs, and wrote them together. Mixed and Mastered at Phill’s House.
