MOTEL VOID: You’ve just released your new single ‘Hide & Seek’, which is amazing. Could you tell us more about the writing/recording process? Will it be part of your new album?
THE FIRST ELOI: Yeah actually we had the chorus since last year, right after the release of „Low Glow” – but it took some time to make it work with the verses.
After we got the song structure done it was an easy recording process… And yes, hopefully we will have a full album this year, there are a couple of songs we are currently working on. And yes, Hide & Seek will be on it. sure. We already have a title for the album in mind, hope everything turns out the way we hope…
MOTEL VOID: You put out your EP ‘Low Glow’ last September. Did you release it also physically? And were you satisfied with the reception?
THE FIRST ELOI: No, there is no physical release in the moment. But we are thinking about cassettes or even vinyl, we just need some more money to make it happen. And yeah, we got great reviews from Blogs and magazines, but we are only on really small playlists on Spotify – and we don’t pay for bot-playlist placements like a lot of artist do, so the numbers aren’t that high… But yeah, people who like that kind of music and who had the chance to listen to it for a while are happy with it, and so, we are too!
MOTEL VOID: I think it’s a fantastic release as well! It’s not about numbers… Anyway, how is your 2024 so far? Did you play any live shows this year? Or is there a tour ahead of you?
THE FIRST ELOI: We are rehearsing at the moment, but we are looking for support on guitar and bass (so, if you are a shoegaze-bassist or guitarist and from Hamburg, let us know) – Enid want’s to focus on singing – playing bass and singing at the same time is always a struggle… But yeah, the plan is to have some gigs or a little tour at the end of the year. We will announce that then…
