MOTEL VOID: You’re from San Francisco Bay Area. How would you describe the current music scene there? Do you feel that you’re part of it? Your favorite local venues and artists?

CHRISTINA’S TRIP: I would say the music scene here is really thriving, diverse, and mixed. I think the bay has some of the most creative music coming out of it. There are always so many cool artists playing at the same time too so it’s often hard to choose what you’ll go to on the weekend.

I do feel like part of the current scene in the bay. We are always making friends with artists we play with and we’re always bumping into people at shows we go to. It feels very exciting and we definitely feel community in that.

MOTEL VOID: You’ve just released your debut single ‘Companion’. Will it be part of your new album? And is this your first project ever?

CHRISTINA’S TRIP: Companion will be on the new album. It’s not my first project ever but I do feel that we’re hitting a sweet spot with Christina’s Trip. The music from this project feels most in line with what I wanna do so far.

MOTEL VOID: Could you tell us more about the recording and writing process of this track? You also appear on Buddy Junior’s last album ‘RUST’. Could you elaborate on this cooperation as well?

CHRISTINA’S TRIP: Honestly it feels like so long ago that I wrote and recorded the song that the details feel blurry haha. With a lot of my songs I will write a verse and chorus or just a chorus that I really like or feels catchy then I add the other parts of the song from there. I’m pretty sure that’s what was going on here.
Being featured on Buddy Junior’s song “2 Cents” was really fun! I got to help write and sing the verses, it was very collaborative. It was nice to write in a different style than I normally would.

MOTEL VOID: Your biggest inspirations right now?

CHRISTINA’S TRIP: Right now my biggest inspirations would have to be some local bands including (but not limited to) Jock, Aluminum, Cage World, and Try the Pie, Sucker etc..Also there’s this Alice DJ CD that I picked up at a record fair for a dollar that is changing my life.

MOTEL VOID: Your plans for 2024?

CHRISTINA’S TRIP: For 2024 Christina’s Trip will put out our record and hopefully play some fun shows. I will say we are itching to get back to recording too so maybe a little bit of that is in our future.
