I’ve been loving the Nashville DIY music scene lately. The energy, the variety… I was really looking forward to seeing Snõõper at the summer festival recently, but unfortunately, their gig got cancelled, which was a real disappointment.
One of the standout ‘Nashville’ acts for me is Matched. Their catchy single Saving Face has quickly become one of my favorites. The song evokes the spirit of my beloved artist Soccer Mommy, blending a sense of nostalgia with fresh, vibrant sounds.
Saving Face encapsulates the lightness and spontaneity reminiscent of ’90s music. What I appreciate about Matched is that they don’t feel the need to experiment wildly with their genre or force any dramatic shifts. Instead, they focus on what works: crafting pleasant, engaging verses that seamlessly build up to an irresistibly memorable chorus. The chorus itself is a highlight, repeated in a lo-fi passage that adds an extra layer of charm to the track.
The song has a perfect balance between simplicity and catchiness, making it an ideal summer hit. It’s one of those tracks that you can imagine playing in the background of lazy summer days or energetic road trips. The song offers a sense of comfort and nostalgia wrapped in contemporary appeal. I’m sure it will stay on my playlist for a long time.
