INTERVIEW: GLOSSER

MOTEL VOID: You’ve just released your new EP Angel Dust. How would you describe the process behind writing and recording this EP?

GLOSSER: For this EP we really wanted to take time to explore different sonic avenues. We spent time writing at home in DC and spent a few months in Philly writing and recording whatever felt interesting or good. I think we let go of super specific expectations and made whatever we wanted to in the moment.

MOTEL VOID: For your last album DOWNER (2023), you cited influences like Phantogram, Lorde, and Beach House. Which artists or experiences had the biggest impact on shaping Angel Dust?

GLOSSER: It’s hard to narrow down influences, but for this EP we were actually listening to a lot of rock like Metric and Silversun Pickups. We were aso listening to early 2000’s indie rock- MGMT, Passion Pit. Some Tirzah, some Weyes Blood. We listen to anything and everything. I think each song has its own influences and individuality because of it.

MOTEL VOID: As a band based in Washington, D.C., how would you characterize the local music scene right now? Are there any venues or artists that inspire you?

GLOSSER: We love being in DC, the community is extremely supportive! We’ve been really fortunate to find a lot of support from local venues like The Pocket, Pie Shop and DC9. Our band started on the rooftop of DC9, so it’s been amazing to be able to play the venues we used to dream about.

MOTEL VOID: Now that Angel Dust is out, are there plans for a tour or live performances in 2025?

GLOSSER: We are definitely going to be playing a lot in 2025 and planning to tour later in the year! We have a show at DC9 on January 31 to celebrate the EP and we’re so excited!
Let me know if you need anything else at all for this one and keep me posted on when this will be shared! Talk soon!
