REVIEW: COUNTRY GIRL – FIELD DAY

We’ve covered country girl on the site before, and now they’re back with a captivating new track field day.

It features a whispery vocal delivery and clocks in at just around two minutes. The song has a unique, almost otherworldly vibe, driven by those delicate vocals. Listening to it, I couldn’t help but be reminded of one of my favorite tracks, God’s Whisper by Raury—it’s that kind of special.

Field Day is part of country girl’s debut EP, meet me at the fountain, released under the FADER label.

While the track leans into a lo-fi sound, it wouldn’t surprise me if country girl eventually transitioned beyond the genre, much like Alex G, who slowly stepped out of the lo-fi box over time. They have all the ingredients—distinct ideas, compelling vocals, and simpy a huge potential—to grow into something even bigger. The lo-fi label might soon become too small to contain them.

If this EP doesn’t find success on streaming platforms, I honestly don’t know what record in this genre would deserve to!
