To be honest, Girl Time is one of my biggest musical discoveries in recent years. I absolutely adore their singles Safe and Yours—they’ve been the soundtrack to so many beautiful moments in my life over the past year and a half.

I didn’t know much about the band, though. And when they didn’t release any new music last year, I started to worry they might have called it quits. But now they’re back, and their latest single, Amethyst, feels like a triumphant return.

The new single perfectly encapsulates everything I love about this San Francisco / San Diego duo. Their sense of melody remains unmatched, and their music carries that indescribably comforting vibe—a mix of melancholy and euphoria—that makes their tracks so special.

Just like their previous songs, I know I’ll have Amethyst on repeat for weeks to come. I truly hope it finds success in the “mainstream” (I mean – streaming services), much like their older single Heaven did.
