BEST NEW TRACKS: GIRL TIME ☆ IN THE PINES ☆ MIAH REEVES

Three more songs that have recently caught our attention. This time, it’s America all the way – yet stylistically all over the map, from energetic synths to sharp, contemporary-sounding rock to raw, emotional lo-fi.

GIRL TIME – on the same page

Few things have made me as musically happy lately as the “return” of the duo Girl Time, who released their last single back in 2023 (Safe). Actually, this is already their third single this year (!), but it’s the first I’ve stumbled upon (and now I can’t wait to catch up on the rest.)

On the same page feels more playful than their earlier material: driven by an energetic beat and hazy synths, but still anchored by those captivating melodies. There’s a raw edge to the vibe, and I love this new direction leaning more toward synth-pop. I’m really looking forward to diving into more of the new songs – both the ones already released and those to come…

IN THE PINES – Hide the Sky

American band In the Pines have just released their new record Sunbeam Dream, and the standout for me is Hide the Sky. What grabbed me is the mix of genres – psychedelic rock, shoegaze, even a touch of krautrock. I’m especially hooked on the guitar riff that threads through the track, but really, the whole arrangement is so well-crafted that something new catches your ear with every listen. Add in the hypnotic vocals, and this is a song I’d love to experience live!

MIAH REEVES – Alice

The final pick is Alice by singer-songwriter Miah Reeves – a track released a few months back, but one that deserves attention. It’s a true bedroom lo-fi folk gem: emotional, raw, yet beautifully played and arranged. I love the subtle build, as if the song gradually drapes itself in an ambient veil. Paired with the intimate video of Reeves performing, it creates a wonderfully captivating mood – sad, yes, but irresistibly so.
