Snowcuffs are a Chicago-based dream pop band weaving dueling guitars, hypnotic synths, and entrancing vocals into lush, multi-layered soundscapes.
Their palette of inspirations includes a range of familiar names, from DIIV and Beach House to the more subdued, timeless glow of Mazzy Star.
Their new single Burst leans most clearly toward the dream pop sheen of Alvvays, especially thanks to its striking vocal melody, which rises lightly above the wash of distorted guitars. The clean vocal tone creates a pleasing contrast with the slightly grittier instrumental backdrop. I particularly love how different guitar lines shimmer from each side of the stereo field, keeping you engaged and attentive all the way through to the very end.
