The project Someone Left a Note, based in Germany and led by just 18-year-old Nick Bories, is something we’ve already recommended here in the past. Nick excels at crafting introverted, introspective lo-fi songs that recall the early records of Elliott Smith, or at times the lo-fi work of Bright Eyes.
The new track you’re not broken is a subtle, emotional piece that runs for about two minutes. It’s built around a simple, atmospheric acoustic guitar, occasionally complemented by gentle touches of electric guitar, and above all by an urgent yet still almost whispering vocal. The delivery feels both melancholic and quietly hopeful at the same time. A truly beautiful little song that we highly recommend.
