BEST NEW TRACKS: ALBERT HERTZ – LUCKY LUKE

Albert Hertz is a 30-year-old Danish artist, songwriter, and producer working across various subgenres of left-field and indie music. He began making music in the early 2010s within Copenhagen’s noise-rock scene and is now returning with the second single from his current project.

Lucky Luke doesn’t even reach two and a half minutes, yet it delivers a truly beautiful listening experience. The track opens with a compelling acoustic riff, soon joined by a gently melancholic melody. Gradually, the sound thickens as the bass comes in, and the song subtly builds, with piano and electric guitar adding further depth. There’s a hint of Elliott Smith in its melodic sensitivity, wistfulness, and emotional weight. For me, this is easily one of the best tracks I’ve heard this year—brilliantly written and produced—but what stands out most is the captivating, quietly melancholic atmosphere it creates.
