When I heard this song for the first time, I happened to be wearing an MJ Lenderman T-shirt from his latest European tour – so Won’t You by one of my favorites, Air Mail, instantly put a smile on my face.
The track carries such a warm, easygoing americana vibe – like imagining the atmosphere of Lenderman’s latest record blending with the dreamy, understated feel of songs like Bobby by Alex G. At the same time, though, it never feels derivative – Air Mail really make it their own. It transports me somewhere else entirely, into those slow, nostalgic summer walks by the river, where everything feels a bit softer and more distant.
