Kid Tigrrr is the solo project of singer-songwriter and visual artist Jenna Fournier, best known as the frontwoman of the shoegaze hybrid band Niights. After releasing two studio albums and completing four international tours in Japan, Fournier parted ways with her record label and immersed herself in audio engineering, exploring home recording and self-production as a new creative frontier.
What first caught my attention was that the release Stoned + Animald was supported by my longtime favorite Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins. Kid Tigrrr even contributed vocals to the band’s latest album Aghori Mhori Mei, and Corgan subsequently signed her to his own label.
The single Scry doesn’t quite fit into the strict “new music” category – if we define “new” as only what’s being released at this very moment. Still, I like to include slightly older discoveries (this one dates back to fall 2024) that I’ve only just come across. Scry is a fascinating, immersive dream pop track that evokes artists like Slowdive or Mazzy Star, yet stands apart through its unexpected production choices and experimental edge.
