BEST NEW TRACKS: HERE PIG – NOON & SWALLOWED

Here Pig is easily one of the most exciting discoveries I’ve come across lately. This Detroit-based DIY rock project keeps a low profile online – with just two releases so far. The first dates back to 2024: the single Noon (alongside Deplete), which at the time may have slipped under the radar.

Last year Here Pig returned with two new tracks, Swallowed and Retract. Swallowed was the first song I heard from the project, and it has everything I want from this kind of indie slacker rock – genuinely outstanding instrumentation (those guitars!), hazy and effortlessly catchy melodies in the vein of Kurt Vile, and a warm, airy production.

The earlier single Noon leans more heavily into shoegaze territory, with the vocals pushed further back in the mix, giving the song a more atmospheric, almost landscape-like character.

I just hope it won’t take another year for Here Pig to release something new – because this is a truly remarkable talent in the making.
