The Dharma Chain are a six-piece psychedelic rock & roll band originally from Byron Bay, Australia, recently relocated to Berlin, Germany. That alone is a detail I find genuinely exciting – I’ve always loved the Australian guitar scene, and I’m equally fond of the Berlin scene in general, so this feels like a truly perfect combination.
And the result? Deeply hypnotic and utterly compelling. The Dharma Chain channel the psychedelic spirit of bands like Jefferson Airplane and The Velvet Underground, but reinterpret it through a modern lens, infused with a subtle ’90s edge reminiscent of Sonic Youth. It’s immersive, rhythm-driven, and effortlessly cool without feeling retro for the sake of it.
Red Red Red Red Red is the first single from the band’s upcoming second album Some Kind Of Pure State, set for release on June 5, 2026, via Spinda Records (ES), in collaboration with Le Cèpe Records (FR), Clostridium Records (DE), Echodelick Records (US), and Dirty Filthy Records (UK). And honestly, I can’t wait – their sonic identity feels distinctive, sensual, and strikingly self-assured.
