Lana Leone is a shoegaze project from Minneapolis, Minnesota, which we already praised here last time. On the new single Paper Cranes, I was immediately captivated by the opening guitar line, which reminded me of my all-time favorite band, Carissa’s Wierd. Soon after, a hazy, ethereal vocal drifts in, deepening the song’s gently nostalgic atmosphere.
What I especially love are the guitars – intricately crafted yet never showy, with subtle flourishes that elevate the track’s almost meditative feel. Halfway through, everything shifts: a heavy, shrieking wall of shoegaze noise crashes in, and it’s exactly what the song needs. It’s raw, energetic, and deeply emotional – simply fantastic!
