Songs we love: Troll Dolly – Microcosms

Troll Dolly is an experimental folk project by singer-songwriter, percussionist and collagist Jen Yakamovich. And for me one of the best recent discoveries. Microcosms is the first track off Troll Dolly’s new EP Heaven’s Mini Mart that should come out on June 23rd. And I can’t wait…!

I don’t know what to praise first so I’ll just write down some adjectives that came to my mind while listening to this song… smart, melodic, mysterious, melancholic, captivating, catchy, beautiful, lush, emotive, smooth, unique, psychedelic; fragile, yet confident…

I’m really astonished by this track. The production is on par with names like Haley Heynderickx, Fleet Foxes… and the songwriting level is on the same level as well. I hope that more people will discover this soon! 5 stars.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Very melodic, and in combination with pleasant, warm production, this simply has to attract many new listeners. (if the right people will come across this track, of course…). Such a great nostalgic vibe that sort of reminds me of Hovvdy. After some time, another 5-star track (together with new Troll Dolly). […]
