The best tracks that have come our way in the past week or so and that we highly recommend listening to…
Mount Mural – Pattern Fades
Mount Mural are among our all-time favorites, so we can’t help but recommend their latest single Pattern Fades. Nearly six minutes of brilliant production: a hypnotic track with hazy, reverb-soaked guitars and a mesmerizing vocal that feels like it’s being whispered directly into your ear. The song builds steadily, and by the third minute it explodes into a full-on electro-shoegaze wall of sound, perfectly balanced with ethereal vocals. It all ends in an epic crescendo – another fantastic addition to the Canadian band’s already stellar discography.
Lovestain – I Miss Me
We haven’t featured many tracks from Brazil, but I Miss Me is a true lo-fi gem. Lovestain cites Elliott Smith and Cat Power as inspirations, and you can definitely feel that ’90s spirit – somewhere between slowcore legends and Nirvana. And yet, there’s something distinctly current about it. Easily one of the best tracks I’ve come across in recent weeks.
Wedding – itch
This one comes from another Canadian project, Wedding, and it’s a masterclass in indietronica production. The track reminded me a bit of The Books — though perhaps a touch less experimental. What really stands out here are the male and female vocals, weaving beautifully together and complementing the catchy instrumental backdrop. A rich, detailed track that’s both thoughtful and addictive.
