BEST NEW TRACKS: THE FIRST ELOI ☆ CONFLICT AT SERENITY POOLS ☆ SUNDAY,JUNE

The best tracks that have come our way in the past week or so and that we highly recommend listening to…

The First Eloi – In Sepia

The First Eloi is a shoegaze band from Hamburg that we’ve covered here before. Their approach is rather classic, and their songs clearly pay tribute to ’90s icons like My Bloody Valentine – no complaints there. Honestly, I don’t expect every band to push genre boundaries. Sometimes, well-executed craftsmanship is enough, and The First Eloi deliver that very well. In Sepia is slower and more melancholic than their earlier work but still captivates you with its hazy, mesmerizing atmosphere. Thanks to the ethereal vocals, it definitely stands out as one of the more interesting releases in this still popular genre.

Conflict at Serenity Pools – Summer Ghost

One of my biggest discoveries since starting this blog years ago has been Conflict at Serenity Pools. Their track Corn Cobs still holds a firm place in my playlists, and their other songs (and they have many) have been equally inspiring. Tracks like Stained Glass Curtain and mellow and shiny have even earned tens of thousands of well-deserved streams on Spotify (which makes me really happy). Naturally, I couldn’t miss their latest release, Summer Ghost, which carries a relaxed vibe perfectly suited for this June season. I’m currently listening to it on a train traveling through forested landscapes, with occasional rays of June sunlight streaming in, and Summer Ghost in my ears (while people around me unwind with a can of beer) is the perfect soundtrack for the moment.

Sunday,June – Sun Glitter

I always enjoy discovering music from countries that aren’t typically known for genres like lo-fi or bedroom pop, so I’m glad the Swiss band Sunday,June came my way. In March, they released a solid album titled Sun Glitter and Other Reflections, featuring 10 tracks. Here, I’m highlighting the fifth track, Sun Glitter. What more can I say – it sounds exactly like its name suggests. A perfect summer soundtrack for an evening by the lake, long gazes at the shimmering water. I love the psychedelic touches and catchy melody, which shine especially well about two-thirds into the song when the effects-laden guitars come in and the vocals gently flow… excellent production and a truly summery soundtrack.
