Liquid Heaven is the new single from indie solo artist Sundozer, released on Valentine’s Day. The track arrives ahead of his debut album, which is set to come out later this year.
In the realm of shoegaze, it’s increasingly difficult to come up with something truly groundbreaking. Still, I see Sundozer as one of the strongest projects to emerge in the genre in quite some time. It’s almost hard to believe this is a solo endeavor — production-wise, it sounds like a full band. Instrumentally, it grabs you right away: the bass is playful and engaging, the synths are especially compelling, and the overall tone leans beautifully into a more dreamy register. The vocals are excellently produced, and Sundozer’s voice has a particularly warm and inviting timbre.
What I love most is that perfect balance – it’s hazy and dreamlike in a classic shoegaze way, yet it carries a driving energy that keeps pushing you forward. From the depths of the production, genuinely interesting ideas constantly surface, including brief guitar riffs that subtly evoke the spirit of bands like American Football.
