BEST NEW TRACKS: HONEY I’M HOME – HYPERSPACE MOUNTAIN

The Dutch scene is regularly featured on our blog, and this certainly isn’t the first time we’re recommending Honey I’m Home. The band had a rocket start, opening for Goat Girl in Berlin and Hotline TNT in Amsterdam.

Beyond their musical influences, Honey I’m Home draw heavily on the eerie, shadowy atmosphere of VHS horror. This haunting aesthetic blends seamlessly with the melancholy of shoegaze, enriched by nostalgic touches of Super 8 grain and dark fantasy imagery.

As a lifelong horror fan (I’ve just finished a book on the history and current state of the genre!), their sound naturally caught my attention, so I couldn’t miss their new single Hyperspace Mountain. The track opens with a truly cosmic intro before breaking into an energetic wave of shoegaze. It then pulls back, creating space for dreamy, beautifully intertwined vocals.

The production deserves special praise – it’s polished and expansive, pushing the band toward the potential to reach a much wider audience than a more raw approach might allow. My favorite moment comes around the 1:40 mark, when everything briefly settles into a calm pause before surging back with renewed intensity toward the finale. A beautifully melancholic piece!
