BEST NEW TRACKS: CORA FLUX, ALBERT HERTZ, MAL SOUNDS

This time, our journey takes us to Denmark twice and the United States once. Three strong recommendations!

CORA FLUX – OUT OF YOUR HEAD

Out Of Your Head is a future-grunge / digi-folk song by Danish artist Cora Flux, written about being close to a friend struggling with addiction and the quiet distance that gradually grows around such a relationship.

I really enjoy the genre blend here. The song carries a dark, melancholic atmosphere that’s already present in the cover art. It starts off slowly and subtly, but soon the crushing guitars kick in and give way to a highly emotional, energetic chorus. What draws me in most is not only the mood but also the production. It has a distinctly nocturnal, urban, slightly sorrowful vibe that feels both immersive and authentic.

ALBERT HERTZ – ACTOR

Albert Hertz’s new single Actor is described as existential despair dressed up as a catchy indie tune, balancing gently between sanity and delusion.

What really stands out to me is the thick, layered production. The song is incredibly catchy while maintaining a beautiful sense of melancholy. Albert’s voice is especially appealing – it almost sounds like it has wandered in from a pop-punk record, which might be part of what makes the song so immediately memorable. My favorite moment comes around the 1:15 mark, when an acoustic guitar enters and gives the track a more crystalline quality. The addition of the subtle backing vocals makes that section even more effective and emotionally resonant.

MAL SOUNDS – CHARLOTTE

If there’s one thing I’ve become increasingly allergic to these days, it’s the overuse of AI – whether in posters, videos, or graphic design. That’s why seeing a beautifully crafted stop-motion animated music video like the one accompanying Charlotte by Mal Sounds feels genuinely refreshing and heartwarming.

The song itself is every bit as beautiful and human as the visuals. It feels natural and unforced, with wonderfully detailed production throughout. The overall atmosphere is ambient and almost meditative, creating a deeply relaxing listening experience. Mal Sounds’ vocals carry the same sense of calm, perfectly complementing the song’s gentle and intimate character.
